Well, that's another true bit of history we have all lived through, whether we like it or not. Coronation to follow with more of the same.
Given that all monarchs receive the same, I suspect any celebration/respect involved is more for the continuity of the monarchy rather than the post-holder, obliged, as he/she is to follow a fairly strict set of rules & conventions for the duration.
I've not had a bad life, living under a monarch and with a little more effort on MY part could have made it several degrees better.
I've seen no evidence that - at my level in society - that life would be/have been any different were the UK a Republic.
If it ain't broke, don't try and "fix" it; concentrate your efforts on improving stuff that can be improved, bringing real benefits to fruition.

Look at the patriotic expats, lol!
I watched it and it was certainly a great spectacle in our finest tradition. Fantastic backdrop of Windsor Castle in the last part of the procession, like something out of a fairytale.
May you rest in peace your Majesty, you have certainly deserved to.

I wasn't that interested in watching it, but the wife was so I thought I'd watch for 5 minutes. 4 hours later I was still sat there. It was a work of art, a masterpiece, even.
Charles was a rock throughout. He'll make a great King.

Must give a big shout to the military etc as well today none more so than those 8 guys who carried the coffin. Millions of eyes on them and that can't be easy.

I will never forget watching that. once in a lifetime (or twice if you arent too old). Nobody does this better than us. What a fantastic send off, was quite emotional at points. What a boon for London and the UK, like her final parting gift to the Nation.
God Save the king - he has a hard act to follow!

Probably an unpopular opinion but I can't stand the sound of bagpipes. Absolutely awful
The trumpets however were incredible and the last stand, followed by the silence and the anthem was a special moment

Read something earlier that made me smile.
Bloke said he was asked why he cared so much about the death of someone he never knew.
Bloke said the person asking the question was one of those who were totally losing their shit over George Floyd.

Absolutely agree, he could give a few co-commentators a few tips on when to say something and when to say nothing. Quite incredible today, they have probably had this planned for years but wow that was impressive and moving.

I remember Swiss crawling well up the arse of some prince from another small country on here because (in his Walter Mitty style) 'his son went to the same school'......and then he couldn't spell his name correctly......basically if it's a royal from another nation it's.....sluuuuuuuurp....in the world of Swiss....but here they are all 'losers' if they do they same for their own royals....
